Join UNA- Chicago for a fun-filled evening at Athena’s Restaurant supporting Adopt-A-Future. 100% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Adopt-A-Future.

Adopt-A-Future is a program launched by UNA-USA and UNHCR to support refugee children and provide them with quality education. This year, UNA Chicago has committed to fundraising for Kakuma Refugee Camp, one of the oldest refugee camps in Kenya. Kenya’s camp Kakuma serves an estimated 190,000 refugees from neighboring countries (by far surpassing its capacity of 100,000 refugees). Within Kakuma — which is only 12 Sq km — there are 19 primary schools funded by UNHCR to serve young refugees, which make up 55 percent of the camp’s population.

This event includes special guest speaker, Peter Magai Bul. Peter spent 9 years in the Kakuma Refugee Camp due to the South Sudan conflict. He will be joining us in honor of World Refugee Day to share his story and the impact Kakuma had on his life.
